Playing Dress-up!

It's fun having a GIRL.
Getting all clean...
and dressed up!

okay so this is my sad attempt to take so cute pics of her- but I still love 'em!

Visitors!

We've been lucky enough to have family able to come visit the last couple of weeks. As mentioned earlier- my mom came to help out with the new baby. This was her first trip to Boston and she was mostly stuck in doors helping me, but she did get out one day to go downtown with Ryan and got a little of the Boston experience.

then the Anderson's arrived during spring break.

Kendall of course got me hooked on another good book-
Hex Hall - finished in a day and a half!
The Gang also got to go to a Red Sox game!

Of course we were excited to cheer Kyle on in the Boston Marathon again this year, but unfortunately things didn't turn out as well as we hoped. Poor Kyle got sick a few days before the race, but went for it anyway and was doing AWESOME, until about mile 16 when he pulled a muscle and was unable to finish. We are so proud of him anyway- he was on track to run a 2:32- way to go Kyle!

Jase and Elle had fun together and learned a lot about sharing:)

We were also glad we got to see a few of the Gardner's on Sunday. They came to visit Dani in New York and check out Boston University for Tyler. We'd love to have him join us out here:).
It's been a busy first couple of weeks for Maycee, but we're so glad she got to meet everyone and that we could spend some time with our families.

So it begins...

I still can't believe I am a mom to 2 children! We are a little family of four now and it's awesome! I'm surprised at how easy the transition has been so far. I feel so extremely blessed to have two really great kids. Jase adores Maycee- he's totally smitten over her and loves to talk to her and cuddle her and hold her. Maycee has been such a good baby so far. She's making things very easy on me. Sleeping well at night and doing very well with nursing- which is such a relief. I love these two!
This week my mom also flew into town to help out with the new baby. It's been great having her here especially just to give Jase attention while I'm still figuring out how to manage time between the two kiddos. Thanks mom! We love you!

Maycee's Birth Story!

April 3, 2010

7 am:
Woke up to some very mild contractions (like many I'd had the last few weeks). Pain on scale of 1- 10 umm maybe a 2. Didn't think much of it so started the day off as usual.

10 am:
Still feeling the contractions, but they were still too mild and very irregular timing. Decided to go for a walk with Ryan and Jase too see if I could get them going a little more.

10:20 am:
Finished walk- contractions...gone. 'oh bummer'

11:15am:
Suddenly contractions back- and pain level went from 3 to 5. Still bearable, but decided to call doctor to ask about coming in. Leave message for doctor.

11:45:
Doctor not calling me back- but contracts getting stronger (6-7)and more frequent- so I tell Ryan we should probably just head to the hospital.

Noon:
Still making our way to the hospital- contracts at an 8 or 9 pain level. Starting to tell Ryan I don't want to do this anymore and to please hurry up.

12:15 pm:
Getting into some traffic. Starting to feel tons of pressure with the contractions- not sure what to think- start to panic a little and probably freaking Ryan out even more.

12:30pm:
Got lost in the traffic- starting to yell at the traffic.

12:35 pm:
Pounding the door of the car- yelling at traffic more- telling Ryan that the baby is coming in the car- doing everything I can to try not to push.

12:40 pm:
Finally spot the hospital- park the car...try to get out of car- can't walk- Ryan runs to get wheel chair.

12:45 pm:
Rush through labor and delivery doors- tell them my baby is coming right now. They wheel me into a room give me a robe to change. I tell them there is no time to change. So they just throw robe on top of me.

12:50 pm:
Mid-wife comes - I ask for an epidural (pain well past 10) but I already know I'm not getting one or any kind of pain relief- mid-wife checks me and tells me to go ahead and push when I feel like- she takes off to get ready.

12:55 pm:
Mid-wife back - I'm pushing with contractions which actually relieved some of the pain. Water bursts!

12:57 pm:
More pushing- suddenly feels like I'm gonna rip in half- pain level 20!! Tell the doctors to 'get her out or push her back in' - definitely not wanting to push anymore. Tell Ryan 'I can't believe this is happening." Ryan can see Maycee's head- starts crying, I start crying.

push

push

1:04 pm:
Maycee is born- instant relief! Holding Maycee- tears streaming- Can't believe what just happened. IN LOVE!

(times may not be exactly right- but close enough. I wasn't thinking to watch the clock during all this- but do know that we go to the hospital at 12:45 and that she was born at 1:04)
