Big Boy Bed

We decided that we should get Jase into a "big boy bed" before baby Maycee arrives, so he doesn't feel like his whole world is being taken from him when she gets here.
We bought this little bed at IKEA for a great price and let Jase help us put it together. He was THRILLED and jumped up and down on it and didn't want to leave. The first night was a breeze. He climbed right in and went to sleep on his own. Nap time was good the next day too. I was shocked how easy it was... but Jase is smart and deep down I knew he'd realize that this new bed brought on some new freedom as well. The next night he got out a couple of times at first- but once he realized that Ryan was right by his door to put him back, he gave up and went to bed. However, he did make another escape at 5 AM and crawled into bed with mom and dad. I didn't mind too much- it was super cute.
Overall the transition has been much easier than I thought. He does perfectly at nights now and has a few days here and there where nap time is more play than nap- but overall I'm impressed and happy that he's such a BIG BOY! Love that little guy!

"Face Better"

Poor Jase... he gets dry skin so bad and the freezing weather here isn't doing much to help it. His little cheeks have become red and dry. I am doing my best to get them better and keep them moisturized, but apparently I wasn't doing enough.
Jase was in his room, with daddy I might add, when I go in to find this... apparently Ryan was on the phone and unaware that Jase found a HUGE tube of Vaseline.

While quietly laughing , I asked Jase what he was doing. His response...
"Face better."

LOVEly Weekend

Valentine's Weekend was pretty much the coolest!
Here's why:
I got to hang out with this stud after many days of neglect and totally remember that we are in LOVE and got married and have a stinkin' sweet life and family!
I love this guy!
Woke up Saturday morning to these lovely flowers

and a baby love fern (little inside joke)
and a handsome guy with a smashing plan. First he learned (with the help of nice people on YouTube) how to give a great prenatal massage. Then we ventured into making our room a little more colorful.

We decided to paint an accent wall.

Jase even got into helping out with the paint job, but gave us quite a scare when he decided he wanted to taste the electrical outlet. I had just told him to stay away from those because they were 'dangerous,' but I guess I added more interest than warning and Jase needed to find out firsthand what 'dangerous' means. He got a little buzz and his poor tongue was slightly purple for a few minutes, but was fine and proceed to tell us over and over again not to touch them.

Completed project- I'm quite in love with it:)!
After the painting, I kept with my New Year's resolution to do something each month that surprises myself and decided to do something I never thought I'd do...

Pierce my ears.

I didn't tell Ryan until later that night at dinner---he was shocked!

That night we dropped Jase at a friends and headed downtown for dinner and a movie.
Our movie of choice was none other than... "Valentine's Day." We enjoyed it and had some good laughs. Ryan even got brownie points for actually letting me buy popcorn- but lost them soon after as he had to gripe about the cost of the popcorn for a good 10 minutes. I do agree that movie popcorn is one of the biggest rip-offs ever, but you gotta do it on occasion:).
Today after church, Nikki and I made the guys a yummy V-day brunch complete with a decorated table, sticky buns, omelets, oranges, and a super good smoothie.
I gave Ryan a bunch of silly little gifts and he got himself a new office chair:)
It was a wonderful weekend full of lots of LOVE!
Hope you all had a Happy Valentine's Day!

Funny moments brought to you by...

JASE!

These are just a few videos we've taken of Jase recently.

1) Aunt Nikki gave him a haircut this week and the buzzers were quite funny and ticklish I guess.

2) Ryan was trying to teach Jase to throw a football and do a little victory yell afterward- Jase got very intense about it and had us laughing hysterically.

Valentine's Treats

Yesterday I got together with good friends to make some cookie bouquets for our Valentines!

None of us have 'expert' baking and decorating skills, but I think they turned out pretty darn awesome!

Vacuum Lines

I love fresh vacuum lines.
Who doesn't?!
A nice fluffed up, clean carpet with organized, patterned lines.
It can make a room feel much more clean.
I just haven't seen those lines in awhile...
and not because I haven't been vacuuming.
It's just that I have a little helper now who likes to follow me around with his own "vacuum" making his own patterns.

Oh well- I'm sure I'll see those lines again someday and right now I'm really starting to like the new patterns of toddler feet and car wheels:)

Tufts Hockey

It's about that time of year when I really start missing SUU basketball. It was so great to go to the games. Some place to go have fun out of the house during the cold winter. So Ryan and I decided to find some college game to go to around here. What do you know- Tufts has a hockey team! I'd never been to a hockey game so we decided to try it out. It was fun and got us out of the house, but not so much out of the winter cold- haha.

It was great, new fun! Glad we tried it out- but we're still looking for a good ol' b-ball game to go to:).
